The English version of the article:
“[…] For mononews.gr, it is the sixth year in a row that it makes its own intervention, shaping the list of the 100 most influential persons in the country, in 2024.
In the “frame” of the influential are those who stood out during last year, in various fields of activity. By putting their own personal stamp on developments with their courageous, decisive or pioneering moves. Being fully aware, of course, that in order to achieve the desired result, it is not enough to have goals. You should also know a good sign.
All items were carefully collected, evaluated and weighted by the team of 21 mononews100 editors, from which the final picture of the list of 100 emerged.
Which includes businessmen and managers, government and political officials, shipowners, bankers, representatives of Justice, fund managers, lawyers with a critical role in business transactions, stockbrokers, factors in the wider financial sector, heads of agencies and authorities, as well as people of the arts and culture, the scientific community and sports.
The “portrait” with the success stories combines old and new strengths. Protagonists who are familiar with facing the difficult. They are brave and “don’t wait for the storm to pass, as they have learned to dance in the rain.”
mononews.gr, which is journalistically oriented to give the pulse of the events in the business and economic life of the country, also illuminating the leading figures, concluded that 2024 did not have only one big protagonist.
Placing Giorgos Peristeris, Alexandros Exarchou, Giorgos Stassis, Evangelos Mytilinaios and the shipowners Maria Angelikousi, Giorgos Prokopiou and Vangelis Marinakis among the most prominent, with criteria of business initiatives, development movements and important deals.
As in previous years, the mononews100 list also has the section of newcomers. With persons who are expected to have a leading role during the new year 2025:
Costas Delaportas: Shipowner & Operator / DryDel Shipping
DryDel Shipping, of the Shipowner Costas Delaportas, was awarded “Dry Cargo Company of the Year” for 2024, by the Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards.
A distinction that is a milestone in the course of the family shipping company, which was founded in 1988 and entered a new phase of development since 2021.
The Head of the company, originally called Meadway Shipping, was Dionysis Delaportas, the father, while the shipping company passed into the hands of Costas Delaportas three years ago.
The shipowner made sure to give his strategy credentials right from the start, with a vision and strategy to upgrade the shipping company’s presence in the global dry bulk market.
Under his leadership, DryDel Shipping continuously invests in the renewal and expansion of its fleet, with an emphasis on newly built vessels. At the same time, it makes selective moves in the second-hand market, while in 2024 it sold its older ships, taking advantage of the high prices in the second-hand market and securing significant profits.
It combines tradition with innovation, choosing ships with conventional fuels, but with state-of-the-art technologies, which contribute to improving energy efficiency and reducing the environmental footprint.
The promising company has offices in Athens, Singapore, Dubai, Sao Paulo, and Houston, providing reliable and specialized services to its clients worldwide.
In December, DryDel announced its entry into the very large cargo ship market, with the order of two capesizes at the Japanese shipyard Namura Shipbuilding. The vessels will be delivered in 2028 and managed both commercially and technically by DryDel.
Moreover, last year the company received four newly built bulkers from the same shipyard, increasing the number of ships in its fleet to 13, with an average age of only 4 years.
At the same time, the ambitious shipbuilding program is underway. With 10 more bulkers under construction, delivery of which will be completed in 2028.
If nothing else, Costas Delaportas has the potential to move even higher in 2025.
