Greek shipping industry needs to consider renewing its fleet with energy efficient ships to comply with the new IMO rules, EEXI and CII as well as EU Fit for 55 package which set a target of reducing GHG emission by at least 55% by 2030. Meadway Shipping & Trading (MST), one of the fastest growing Greek shipping companies has already exceeded those environmental targets by operating a young energy efficient fleet with an average age of about six years.
Meadway Shipping is headed by Costas Delaportas, the son of the late Dionysios Delaportas who set up the company in 1988. Costas proved his visionary and intuitive ability from the early years of his career in shipping.
Back in 2011 Costas took the initiative to establish Meadway Sh ipping Singapore and Meadway Shipping DMCC in Dubai which are involved in operating dry bulk cargoes and vessels all over the world.
These activities are quite profitable for the interests of the group despite the initial difficulties that were presented due to the bad dry cargo market of that period.
In the inter view that follows Costas Delaportas speaks exclusively in ELNA VI for the company’s achievements and future plans.
